| Chris' relationship to her work is very personal and political. She believes that photography can be a healing and powerful medium, that documents momentous events and celebrates people's lives and their many special relationships. Photography can be an excellent tool for self-reflection. Chris feels that by looking at themselves from different points of view, people have an opportunity to be proud of their bodies, and discover their own uniqueness and beauty. Photography has played a huge role in Chris' personal journey. Taking photos of others and herself has given her a way to explore how she feels about her own body and sexuality. Having the freedom to experiment in photography has empowered Chris as an artist and a queer person - so much so, that she is now committed to share this medium with other people to facilitate their own personal explorations. Having developed her anti-oppressive and sex-positive approaches through many years dedicated to social service organizations, Chris and her work stand out in a society where there are many barriers to the expression of sexuality and beauty.
